A small well-preserved building, medieval home of the Accoromboni family. According to the unsubstantiated popular tradition it was where the Patron Saint resided. It now belongs to the University of Perugia and is the venue for important cultural events. Opposite the building one can admire the four gigantic arches which support the suspended square and the picturesque view of the Consuls’Palace right up to the elegant bell-tower from where, on every festive occasion, the great bell‘s powerful and resounding voice rings out. “Whenever I think of verdant Umbria, I will recall the tolling of the bell of Gubbio and hear its sound within me combining the dreadful echo of the roar of canon fire with the comforting drone of the organ; admonishing our daily violent struggles, holding out the promise of resurrection.” (from” La Campana di Gubbio” by Virgilio Lilli)
