Tower of Porta Romana
Audioguide (42) The Tower of Porta San Augustine, more properly known as the Porta Romana, is about 30 meters high. The door was fitted with a "drawbridge" operated by two chains coming out of the vents are still visible on the front. Annexed to the Tower, the premises for the collection of "tolls" (council tax) in use until 1800 and still virtually intact. Outside the top stands the oldest coat of arms of the Walled City, formed by a mountain with five humps over six lilies (1324).
