Civitella Benazzone
Course of the river Near to Resina, in medieval times was called Civitella of Blessings. With this name appears on the diploma with which Henry VI in 1186, he gave the domain to Perugia. Castle of poggio, like other towns in the area was the site of various events related to conflicts between factions of Perugia. In 1361, occupied by noble refugees who had conspired to deliver the cityto Albornoz, was released to great acclaim in a few days. Conquered in 1402 by Florentine and papal troops, was reclaimed the following year by the city of Perugia in 1406 decided that the reconstruction of its fortifications. After resisting the siege of Braccio (1411), in 1412 fell into the hands of Ladislao of Naples. Again restored the walls in 1446, was occupied by Oddi in 1489 and then leaked, the following year, by Giampaolo Baglioni who dismantled the fortifications. At 300 meters from the town in the north west, are still visible the remains of the medieval St. Paul of Val di Ponte known as Celestina. The churches that remain of the castle and the parish church of San Francesco which houses the Madonna of the Mercede of Benedetto Bonfigli (1418-1496) and the Coronation of the Virgin of Domenico Alfani (1506-1553).
