Ramazzano
The town takes its name from the Castle of Ramazzano, which already existed in 1100 and belonged to the family of Ramazzani until the death of the last of them, Alexander (1637).
Refuge of politicians banned from Perugia, the site of fights between the factions of Oddi and the Baglioni, the castle was demolished in 1411 by order of the City of Perugia. Restored through time, the castle maintains the Guelph battlements, a tower, a courtyard with a well communicating with the cellars and apartments with frescoed rooms.
The ancient chapel of the castle served as a parish church until 1600 and since 1113 was officiated by the Cistercian monks of the nearby Abbey of Montelabate.
